Survey & quote
Acceptance & booking
Installation & sign-off
Once you've sent us an enquiry, a friendly member of the Star Roofs team will be in touch to find out some further information from you about your conservatory.
We'll come to your home to conduct a free, no-obligation survey. We'll then send you a definitive quote (also free!) for the installation.
Once you accept the quote, we'll do a more detailed 'technical survey' and send you a contract which details the entire project schedule and terms.
Choose an installation date that works best for you, and our team will get your roof up asap, before expert quality assurance and sign off by us and you.
How it works
It's a fairly straightforward process to getting your new conservatory roof installed by Star Roofs. Here's a no-nonsense guide to help you feel more informed every step of the way.
Initial contact
We’re always delighted to get messages from people who want to upgrade their conservatory roofs!
You may have heard about us from our website, an online search, a flyer or advert in a local magazine, or an advert on Facebook, Google or Instagram.
If you’ve used our Contact form, you’ll also be able to send a photo (or photos) of your current conservatory – this will help us provide you with further information and a quote.
Or, you might have WhatsApped us from our Google Business page, or website; or even phoned us up.
We need to talk! Calling or emailing you back
Once you’ve been in touch via any of the methods above, one of the Star Roofs team will be in touch with you to find out more.
By phone
We usually do this by phone, as soon as we can after you’ve been in touch (although if you contact us outside of typical business hours – 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday – then we’ll get back to you asap when we’re back in the office). Watch out for phone calls from our office phone number, which has a Poole area code: 01202 022144.
By email
If we can’t contact you by phone, then we’ll send you an email to ask when might be a good time to chat. Look out for emails from info@star-roofs-conservatories.co.uk, or mail@star-roofs-conservatories.co.uk (they might occasionally end up in your spam or junk folder, so please take a look there).
By WhatsApp
If you’ve messaged us on WhatsApp, we might contact you on there, so it should come up as ‘Star Roofs’ on your phone, from 07886 082144.
Why we need to talk to you
The reason we need to contact you after you’ve made your initial enquiry is because it’s not always particularly easy to provide you with an accurate quote straight away.
We’ll need to get some more information about what it is you’re looking to upgrade, how big your space is, where you live (to check that we can actually get to you!) and a few other bits and pieces.
Chatting to us
When you get a call back from one of our team, they’ll ask you some questions about your conservatory. It might be handy to have the following bits of information to hand:
-
Size of your conservatory, and what it's made of
-
Your postcode
-
What sort of roof you think you’d like
-
A sense of your budget range
Booking in a survey
So, we’ve chatted, and got all the general information we need from you. What next?
The next step in the conservatory roofing process is to organise a survey. We'll pop round to your home, to take a further look at your conservatory, in-person. We’ll arrange a date and time that is convenient to you for one of our owners, Cel, to visit.
Cel has over 20 years of experience as a conservatory roofing installer and surveyor. You can rely on him to give you an honest, accurate and very fair estimate!
Getting your free conservatory roofing quote
First off, it’s important to note that all Star Roofs survey visits and quotes are completely free of charge, and there’s no obligation at any point to go ahead with us. Although of course, we hope you’ll be blown over by it!
After Cel has visited you to take a look at your conservatory, your quote will be emailed to you by Mandy, the other owner of Star Roofs, or Emily, our Operations Manager. They both have a wealth of conservatory roofing industry experience too.
In your quote, you’ll find information on:
-
What will be done (itemised to include things like removal and disposal of existing materials, and all the various aspects of your replacement roof or conservatory transformation)
-
The total price for the work
-
Payment terms, schedules and details
If you’re happy with everything in the quote, then the next step is to accept it, which you can do by return of email.
Once you’ve accepted, we’ll then organise what’s called a ‘technical survey,’ which is another visit to work out exactly what will be installed, and calculate all the materials and time it will take to complete your roof.
We’ll then arrange a date for the works themselves to take place, again at a date and time that is best for you.
If you’re not happy with the quote, or spot something that you have questions about, then all you’d need to do is give us a call, or email, to tell us what it is, and we’ll do our best to work it out.
The final piece of paperwork we’ll send you is your contract, based on your quote and technical survey. You’ll just need to sign this and return to us.
Installation of your conservatory roof
Installation work takes place on a weekday (excluding bank holidays), and we’ll work around your schedule.
Who does the installation?
Our installation team are Freddy and Dan. They’ve been working with Cel as expert conservatory roofing installers for many years, and they’re our right hand men!
Do I need to be at home?
You (or someone else) will just need to be around to let them in at the start of the day, which could be between 8am and 9am. You can then go off to work, or get out and about – there’s no need for you to stay at home for the duration of the job.
How long does a conservatory roof installation take?
Depending on the complexity of the work, Freddy and Dan might be finished by the end of the day, or it may take a little longer. For instance, installations of insulated conservatory roofing or Ultra 380 tiled roofs are usually done and dusted in one day (for small to medium size conservatories), or for larger ones, it could take two or more days.
For the more extensive hup! new build conservatories, the work might take between one to five days, again depending on the size of the space, and what preparation works need to be done.
When the work has been completed
Once the installation team have finished, they’ll be super excited to show you your new conservatory! So you’ll need to be back at home for the completion at the end of the day. If you’re out, they will give you a call to let you know that they’re nearly finished.
As a highly experienced surveyor, Cel will then visit you (often on the same day) to inspect your new conservatory roof and take it through the sign-off criteria, to make sure it's all up to scratch. If there’s anything amiss, the installation team will rectify it.
We always love sharing our work, so you may find that Freddy, Dan or Cel will take some ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos for us to add to our website or social media. But don’t worry, your home and address will never be publicly identifiable. If you’d prefer us not to do that, then just mention it to one of the team.
When will I need to pay?
Conservatory roofing installations can be a significant cost to most people. So to help you bridge the cost, we offer a four-step payment plan that spreads it out over the entire process, rather than pay for the whole job in one go.
-
Typically, we ask for a 25% deposit once you have accepted the quote.
-
Then, we’ll ask for another 25% payment once the technical survey has taken place (this is a detailed examination of the space, and calculations of all the materials that we’ll need to order).
-
Once you confirm the installation date, you’ll make another 25% payment.
-
And then finally, once Cel has visited to carry out the final inspection of the work, checked that it complies with our high standards, and you have agreed to sign off the installation, then the final payment of 25% will be due.
Am I covered with a warranty?
Our materials and workmanship are both of extremely high standard, and come with a 15 year warranty. So if you notice any problems at all with your new conservatory roof, all you have to do is contact us and we’ll come over and take a look.
